Clarks' Dauphin Co. 5/24/09

Fished with pafisherman today, at the old sawmill section of the reg water. Water as usual was cold and clear, fished from 8:00 till 2:00, not a lot of bugs( must get up there in the evening), still had fish rising to who knows what. Hot and humid, it's always cool down by the stream.

After all the bad things that happened I did well, started off with a orange ant and landed around 5, went to a #12 crowe beetle and must have landed at least 6 or 7 with plenty of misses.

Bill had to leave early, he must have caught 6or 8, he got a few on the OA, not sure whatelse.

Sounds like a nice day... Were you casting to sighted fish or working the water? I hope to fish Clarks later this summer.

I was spin fishing above the reservoir. There was a steady hatch of what looked like sulfurs coming off all afternoon. I almost went back to my car and got my fly rod, but that would have been disastrous since there was brush along the shore. I found a green drake dun the second one I've seen up there. Going back up there with my 3wt tomorrow

I was doing both, fishing to rising fish and ponding the water. Don't forget to slap that beetle down on the water when you cast, they love it!

Will do - were you slappin a Crowe tie, foam, or another tie? It is rather amazing on those days when you slap it and the wake flies out that way. On other days, ya slap it and the wake heads in the other direction...

Really enjoyed getting out with Paul. That is such a beautiful stream to fish. I did pretty well not as well as Paul though.
Caught fish on the orange ant, EHC and a small midge. Caught a beautiful Native Brookie about 7 - 8 ins. Most of the time I was prospecting but did catch a few that were coming up to something small.
