Clarks Creek- FF only area, Dauphin County, 5/16/11

Hey guys this is my first stream report so bear with me. I fished the special regs section of Clarks yesterday from around 1pm-5pm, surprisingly the sun came out after a few clouds rolled out, and I ran into about 5 other fellas. It was 70 degrees and water was running normally and was very gin clear, fish were super spooky as normal in the slower waters. Looked like a little yellow stone fly or some kind of sulphur hatch was going on throughout the day and the fish were rising intermittently the whole day. Other than that I saw plenty of fish in the middle section of the regs area and landed some brookies and brownies with a black crystal wooly bugger with pheasant tail dropper.

Unfortunately, we're supposed to get rain now for the next couple days. Does anyone know how much Clarks can get but still remain fishable?

Clarks can take some rain and it usually runs off pretty quick but with the dam being full if we get alot of rain it can take a few days before it goes back down.

i was on Clarks as well. Took two right away on a quill and cdc emerger. Then couldn't figure out what was going on for 1 1/2 hours as i stood in the middle of a quiet pool. Some big spashy takes and many quiet slurps. There were a combination of hatches going on including a very large size 8 or 10 mayfly--maybe hendrickson?? i finally got another on an adams and a nice colorful but small brown on a small elk haired caddis when i moved to the riffles.

I fished clarks today 5/17 from about noon til 4. Caught 4 on march brown flymph. Water seemed a little murky from the rain. I noticed a few march browns a few sulfurs and lots of little yellow stones.

@trout: you'll be able to fish Clarks all week. A little cloudy water makes the nymph fishing alot better as the fish don't spook as quickly. The water may go up a little, but it was getting down to normal so some rain won't hurt it much. Good luck if you go.

I was there yesterday on about the middle of the fly stretch and they were taking the little yellow stoneflies fr a while. I had nothing with me to match them. Towards 5:00 to 5:30 did see a few sulphers start to hatch.......

I was there as well. Finally got tired of super spooky fish and went upstream (outside) of the fly area and caught 3x more fish than in fly area and in pretty short fashion. The fish outside the fly area were not leader shy and acted like they had never seen a fake fly before.

No idea. Right now it is pretty much un-fishable as it went from clear to muddy in record speed. Looks like chocolate milk at the 225 bridge. This is a new record for how many times Clarks was not fishable this year.

So I guess next week has to be better than it is now. But the temps are forecast to soar to 90 degrees next week which is not good. Crazy weather. Hard to predict the fishing.

Downpours were intense this evening so there wont be a lot of good choices to fish next day or so, maybe longer.

Thanks for the reply. I hope to fish Clark's next Tuesday in the afternoon. I have some business in Mechanicsburg in the morning.

Not sure if it will be fishable by Tuesday. Raining now and more for tonight and tomorrow. If you decide to give it a try make sure you have dark, heavy buggers.
