Clarks Creek, Dauphin County, 2/23/13

Caught my first trout ever on a fly, yesterday at Clarks. Caught it in the fly fishing only section on a black wolly bugger. I was freaking out to say the least when I realized I actually had a trout on the line. Very rewarding. Water was clear. Water temp unknown. Air about 38 and drizzle, no surface activity noted.

Congrats Jake! Probably not a whole lot of people can say that they caught their first trout on a fly in Clarks Creek during the month of February. You'll have a lot of fun on Clarks as the season unfolds with plenty of bug activity and good terrestrial activity during the summer. Clarks is a neat fishery. Nice job! You have a lot to look forward to in this great sport.

Clark's Creek is a tough cookie at times especially this time of year.
Congrats. It took me some time before I landed my first trout from this stream. I found tossing an olive wooly bugger was my ticket. Movement seems to be the key in the slower pools.

Thanks for the support. Yes, it is now offcially an addiction- and yes, I caught it in one of the slow pools that my buddy passed in search of faster water.

nice job. woolybuggers usually kill in clarks. but when it gets warmer it gets alot more pressure and you have to switch it up a little. again congrats and I'm sure I'll see you around there as I live on the stream

I went out there this afternoon from about 12-4 pm. Water was very cold no temp. Air temp mid 40's I want to say. Saw one BWO it looked like, and some midges coming off, but it was enough for me to want to tie on a dry dropper. Wishful thinking as nothing came to the dry. Did well on a hares ear. Landed 2, lost one in some pocket water (felt like a good fish) and caught a sucker. All fish came on the hares ear just below riffles. I don't have enough patience to deal with the finicky trout in the slower pools this time of year lol. Got a pic of the nicer fish of the day.
