Clark's Creek, Dauphin Co., 5/13/09

Hit Clark's Creek for the first time ever this afternoon from about 1-3 PM upstream of the fly only area. Caught a half dozen browns on caddis, black midges and a black ant. The largest was about 13". The wormer next to me asked if he could keep it and I told him absolutely, but he would have to catch it first. 🙂

Nice setting and this area had plenty of fish in the 7-10" range. Water was crystal clear and the fish were aggressively eating off the top. Lots of midges and some caddis as well flying about. Plenty of mosquitos too. Bring bug juice or a bad cigar to fend them off.

Haha, nice one with the wormer. As for the mosketers, instead of spray, buy an all natural dog flea collar and hang it from your vest, keeps them away like a dream and it lasts the whole summer.

You could put it around your neck if you get one of the pure oil soaked ones with no pesticides, but you definitely get the wrong kind of attention, as they are usually bright orange.

I have been using a combination of Vick's Suave and OFF
Seems to work. OFF alone doesn't last long.

You have to be pretty stealthy with those ATW Trout. I was there early this week. Lots of trout but a lot of movement sure puts them down fast. The snags are bad. Bring lots of leader tippet and flies.
