Clarks Creek, Dauphin Co., 3/17/15

Fished for about an hour and a half yesterday up at Clarks. Water temp was in upper 30s. Water is high from th snow melt but still clear. Trout seemed very active. I started with wooly buggers in several different colors. Ha several followers and one missed strike. Threw several other streamers with followers but no strikes. Then I threw on a size 14 green weenie and managed to bring one small brown to hand.

Right before I left I found some trout which appeared to be nymphing behind a log jam. I threw probably 4 or 5 different nymphs with San Juans, weenies, and other dropers and had a lot of followers an interest but no takes.

Fish seemed active and looked to be feeding but I couldn't tell on what. I did not see any rising fish and I didn't notice any midges or bug activity around .

I know there was a lot of ice on Clarks earlier this month. Has the fly stretch been stocked Yet?

Yeah we stocked it with the ice on the stream. So unfortunately only a few places got fish because there was like 10 inches of ice.

Whatever happened in regard to large woody debris management on Clarks?

Some people wanted the log jams removed. Others said leave them alone.

What was decided and done in regard to that?

Okay, I need to know exactly which holes you put fish in!

I'm not a big fan of manicuring the stream, but there are a few areas which it would be nice to clear up! There is one spot in the fly stretch I like to fish, but unfortunatly it's my wife's favorite hole so I never get to fish it. It's the hole above the parking spot where you drive down in, then you follow the path all the way down to the stream, then up arpund the bend to the right. If you see a good looking blond fishing there you better give her some room.

With what results? Regarding habitat, i.e. holding water for trout, i.e. pools and cover.

I actually enjoy watching her catch fish as much as catching them myself. We are going to yellowstone in July this year. One of our favorite trips. Renting a big motor home this year.

Damn her....now had a path been cut to allow passage of water and float stockers...perhaps some of the LWD would have stayed.
