The trout are definately on the Cicadas now.
Doesnt seem like how the reports from Centre county cicadas were, but impressive none the less. Violent strikes and they're getting some bellies.
I didnt catch every trout I saw, but every single cicada that went on the water didnt last long. It wasnt like that at the start of this emergence. Fished for one trout inparticular that refused me multiple times but the second a natural went over him he smashed it like he was waiting for it. Caught one that had to swim atleast 20 ft on a mission straight to my fly. Its a different experience. One I'm glad I finally got off my list.
I understand both sides spot-burning and hatch burning, but this is a once in 17 year occurance and I wont keep this one to myself.
Get up there if you can. Dont know how long they'll be around.

I've heard that Clarks has been seeing some pretty heavy pressure since the emergence of the cicadas. I wouldn't worry about spot-burning it. There's been enough press about cicadas in the Clarks Valley and it should be no secret the fish are on them. I agree that it's a "once in 17 year" occurrence and shouldn't be missed.

This is true. The difference is that cicadas were flowing down the stream and out of sight without being taken in weeks prior.
This is no longer the case in any way.

I agree with the torn feelings about spot burning/hatch burning because as defensive as I am about my places, every enthusiast needs to experience this.

Also, anyone slap the surface with their cicadas? Try it if you haven't.

I did toss naturals onto the water a few weeks back when I was up and they got grabbed, every last one. There should be some nice, fat fish in that stream!

Yes they've been on them for at least two weeks now. See a lot of wild browns not getting them down. I have yet to fish a cicada pattern since I have none. But they are on if you have some.

I've been over there a few times for the cicada hatch. I've waited 17yrs for this to happen again. It's freaking awesome. I love and try to protect this stream,but yeah I agree this is something not to be missed. Now if you got any local streams with Cicadas & smallies get ur behind out there because that's even more fun.

I was up last evening, the woods were quiet compared to the few other times I've been up over the past few weeks. May be winding down? This is the first time I went up during the evening so I'm not really sure.

I still had a good night just not on cicadas, 3 to hand and no mosquito bites. I was pretty far up above the gun range.

it is winding down. saw only one cicada in the water yesterday. caught a few on a Chernobyl ant and crowes beetle. water temp 61 degrees.

I fished this morning. Cicadas are done but fish are still willing to take a cicada fly. I missed a ton of fish but managed to land a few too. Every hole with unspooked fish usually drew a strike. I didn't want to leave but needed to be home to help with kid.
