Clarks Creek, Dauhpin County 7-12-09

Fished Clark Creek today. Weather was pretty nice. Found a fair amount of fish above the fly area. I cast my beetles and ants to no avail, I couldn't even get a look. I ended up going subsurface with a beadhead and picked up 5 quick including a colorful wild brown. Nice hatch of thin body mayflies (size 18) came off about 6 pm but the fish ignored them. Didn't run into another fisherman until I was leaving. Talked to two flyfishermen from Berks County at the parking lot.

Hey Albud, I was fishing the FFO upper stretch the other day and did well, then I went upstream out of the FFO and found many fish like you but they wouldnt take a terrestrial while the more pressured fish on the FFO did , wonder why that is ? I didn't go subsurface because the fish were shallow . were you just sight fishing with the nymph or did you have an indicator, Im not that competent with nymphs especially when I'm fishning for trout in shallow water, any advice would be appreciated.

I have been having alot of luck in recent weeks upstream of the FFO section, with terrestrials. I have actually had fishing charging at them from 10 or so feet away after the beatle slaps down on the water. Went over to stoney this past friday and same thing.

I used a fish pimp indicator. The run I was fishing had a little current so had a drift. I had 6x flourocarbon and no weight just a tungsten beadhead. The nymphs I was using were size 16 to 18. I was sight fishing for the most part, watching the fish grab the nymph or watch my float stop when it passed near a fish. Not sure what my deal is with the terrestrials. Might be my casting. I can't seem to cast more than 20 feet.
