Rather disappointing considering Clarks was stocked yesterday. Caught 3 on a streamer in 3 hours. Conditions were poor since water was off-color, a bit high, and cold after big rain on top of unusually big snowpack. Got some good exercise walking over wet snow trying to cover some water and spot the fish.
Years ago Clarks was the go to stream after a rain since it stayed clear but that is no longer the case. Now it gets murky just like other valley streams. Typically Clarks is excellent sight fishing as stockies "herd" together despite being float stocked. However, this time with deeper murky water the fish could not be seen making for a lot of blind casts over water that likely was devoid of fresh stocked fish.
It was also hard to cast since the conditions had me roll casting off the bank much of the time. Without being able to clearly see bottom in many areas, I (a senior citizen fishing solo) was in no mood to step into cold, potentially deep water. There were also a lot of trees in the water...bad for the fisherman (and herons) but good for the fish. Amazingly some really big old trees from the past (that I thought would be there forever) were washed away but there were also some new ones in the creek.
P.S. Wish they let seniors fish on Mentor day, then I would catch a bunch!(just trolling)
