Clarks 6/14

[Squaretail]

Tried a section of Clarks I never gave much of a thought to before. Didnt think it would be what it is. Full of wilds.

Plus a few natives. I quit counting at 17 knowing it was going to be a very good day even if I didnt catch another. I'd like to think it was pushing 40 but I know I caught somewhere over 30 with about 6 stocked browns (most had holdover colors), 6 native brookies, and the rest wild browns. Had to fish like a heron but it was successful. Alot of those bastards around as well with some scarred up trout to prove it. Couple green caddis was all I noticed as I caught most of them on a hopper with the clouds and crickets with the sun. 1st time in awhile I hit 30 on Clarks. You can tell I was gittin'em pretty good by those pruned-up hands from always being in the water.

nice fish squaretail! for some reason i never liked clarcks as much as everyone else. i always thought that stoney was more to my liking. i dont know why because i get more wilds in clarks. maybe its just because my father and i used to fish stoney. either way good job!

Squaretail

Nice looking clarks trout, I've been fishing Clarks for around 50 years and I catch more and more of those little natives ever year, it's great to see that the stream is doing well. I'll never forget fishing Clarks with my Dad, he was a great fisherman!

Merle and I fished it on the 13th, in the fly area, and were doing pretty well till I fell in, take my word or it the water temp is fine! We caught our fish with Beetles and the orange Ant.

The brookie looks to have a spun hopper in its mouth... He says most were on terrestrials.

I seem to do best with crickets (black) when its sunny, and hoppers (tan) when its overcast. Went back monday to where I left off and took 21 more from 12:00 to 3:30. Not sure how much farther I have to go till I hit familiar waters, and most likely less fish.

Took this one on the 18th on a cricket. One of the top 10 largest wilds Ive taken out of there at 14". Wasnt going back to this particular stretch at first but other fishermen proved otherwise. That many vehicles on a monday afternoon. Yeeesh!

Thanks squaretail. That's a big wild fish for Clarks. I believe now that they are stocking fewer fish the natives on some streams are finding more room to live and grow. Tight lines.

There she be. Not quite the size of Sals lately but I was happy to bring'er in. You can just see the red hue she had down her sides and on her fins. I know where there is a larger wild brownie but of course its in a lie thats very difficult to approach and harder to get a drag free float on. And if you dont nail it on the very first cast your also out to lunch.
