Took a musician buddy out for a local trip, with me playing the role of guide. Water clear with good flow and 50-51; bugs were mostly midges, and a couple gray stones; only two risers in several hours. Started around 10:30 and I went on a tear within minutes in a fast run almost across from my truck. It was also the most crowded I've ever seen it, but nobody tried to force their way into our runs or drifts the whole time, which was refreshing considering how many guys were jangling stringers. After a few (ok maybe more) nice trout I gave my buddy some help, since he was having issues with drift and timing. One or two casts with me monitoring and calling out "fish" when he had hits and he was in the game. We ended up with easily a dozen or so in the first spot; pretty nice fish too; rainbows up to about 14'' or a little more. Went upstream a bit and picked a couple more out. We moved down to another nice run that was being pounded all morning but got there right as the spin guys were leaving. I hustled into the run since there was a gang of kids a little above and they were killing every fish they caught. Didn't take long for the caddis pupa to work it's magic and we landed __ dozen more trout including a few browns. Every time we tried to more someone jumped in front of us so we just educated as many fish as we could; all were released. My buddy got into a hot streak where he couldn't stop catching trout from a certain spot; what a riot! He couldn't stop grinning like the Cheshire Cat. We then hit the Chinese buffet and I got free early dinner for my services. Glad I got to share the day and my friend said he had some solid techniques to take out with him next time.

Man we pigged out! Amazing how hungry you get after several hours of fishing. My buddy offered to buy and he wanted to hit the place by the movies in Granite Run. Unfortunately it was nearly five when we got there (Dinner prices), but they have a consistent spread; good variety with a decent Sushi Bar. Also they had crab legs, frog legs, and craw fish to go with the more typical buffet fare.
In retrospect, my friend will now be likely fishing a lot of my not so secret spots, but luckily he is strictly a catch and release guy. Good feeling to have a day like that for someone that has been skunked several times recently.

Nice feeling teaching someone to properly fly fish isn't! it!!
Haven't fished Chester Creek in 10 years;maybe i'll give it a try Thursday before it gets cleaned out
BTW:I usaully eat in that same Chinese restaurant when I fish Ridley Creek in the afternoon.Good food

Sun Buffet I think; and it's one of the better buffets IMO. Chester never really gets cleaned out; the fish do get schooled pretty well though. You can almost always get some out of the riffles and fast stuff, as with most streams around here. She'll be running pretty good with this rain, already above average and starting to rise.
