Fished from mid morning til a little after 4pm. Light drizzle, followed by mostly cloudy weather; temps mostly sixties. Water was 63 when I checked and there were no real hatches or risers to speak of. I started below the " Meat Hole" and managed to avoid the post derby frenzy. Fished unimpeded for a couple hours and managed about ten; nothing huge but a couple of the fish were in really nice shape, and they fought well. The water was higher than normal and had a light tinge; perfect for nymphing. Looking for a little less company, I moved to another spot a few miles away, and hooked several before I got more than about a hundred feet from my truck. To my dismay, another angler slipped in below me and started fishing downstream. (my direction, too) Fortunately, he was fly fishing, and using dry flies. I hooked six fish in the next good run, landing most, and using a bh caddiis pupa. (big surprise!) I then put on an ant dropper and worked my way down, picking up a few at the next good run. My favorite spot only gave up a couple fish, though I missed two more nice ones. On the way back I fished the next run above my truck, and picked up two more, and decided if I hurried home I might get the mowing done. Almost did, but the skies opened up; more good news for the trout!
