Conditions: Water clear and a little higher than average flow-62 Deg
Hatches: not much due to the weather; a few caddis and cranes, some midges only two rises noted
Weather: mostly cloudy with a few showers, sixties
Time 12-6 PM
Driving down the road I realized the 14 flies I had tied yesterday were still on the bench. So I went back and got them, thus insuring that I would only lose one fly in several hrs. of fishing fast water with weight. Anyway, I was going to French, but I decided after my restart to stay local. I fished one stretch I knew, but explored much farther downstream than I had previously fished. Then I moved my truck and tried a spot I've never fished. The fish were spread out and I had some fun action in the riffles, though I got a few out of the pools as well. Didn't bring to hand huge nos. but I'd say I hooked about three doz. and landed a little less than half. A lot of the fish had been hooked before, and several of the browns looked to be holdovers. Maybe the nicest fish hooked in a shallow riffle:

Had fun exploring some new spots and got some serious exercise! Most fish caught on a 14bh caddis pupa. Some parting shots:

What model camera did you use for the photos?

JK, the camera is a Kodak Easy Share 735. It is only 7 mp, but is light and fairly small. My wife gave it to me for a X-mas present a couple years ago. I keep it in a plastic bag, til I'm ready to shoot. Most of the fish I caught were on a Z-wing caddis pupa, either dead drift, or twitched through the likely holding water. A lot of the hits were subtle, and I missed way more than usual, but I'm always happy to be contacting trout.

I feel exactly the same ! As long as I'm getting hits, I'm happy. If I miss fish..... it's my fault.
I now see you did mention a 'caddis pupa' under your photo; I missed that!
I will add that pattern to my caddis book, since I mostly fish caddis. I found a website and added it to my 'Documents' folder.
I'll try it out tomorrow................ LOL..

There is a lot of good access to this stream; too much to list. Dutton Mill to Bridgewater Rd. has several pull offs and a huge lot. Several roads off 452 cross the creek, and it is good below the junction of the West Branch as well. I recommend buying county street maps as they are a quick way to find good entry to any streams. The large catalog style are my preference.
