I stopped over at my very local DHALO here in Chester County this morning. I have been able to get there and do some walks with the dog, but today was the first time I went fly fishing. It was stocked last week so there we some fresh stockies in a few areas. Like most all streams in the SEPA it's a freestone that warms up all summer and there is really no trout by the time fall arrives. With human development like roads, houses, farming, parking lots, buildings, factories and damns I wonder what streams were like 300 years ago?

Anyway, it was kind of busy on the trail and in the stream when I got there at about 9:00 am. There was a few guys in a couple of different spots and I had to start upstream by the parking lot and head down. I really wanted to get to one hole as I saw several trout there on my walk the day before, but it was pretty tied up all morning. So I took a position just upstream from where I wanted to be and found myself getting luck with several good size bows. I didn't think this spot was going to be very productive but was pleasantly surprised. I left just after 11:00.

It was a very crisp sunny morning with air temps at about 55 degrees. I couldn't find my water thermometer. No bugs or hatchs to speak of, but plenty of leaves coming down. The water was pretty low and crystal clear. I basically used a couple of different junk flies to get some trout.

A very pretty morning.
