With the draft being in the city, our company decided to give us off after Tuesday so of course I booked it East to the Catskills.
Wednesday 4/22 - arrived around 11 am, put in by 11:30 and saw few bugs mainly paraleps & caddis and quite possibly 1 Hendrickson with mostly Sunny conditions all day..
Thursday 4/23- put in earlier and got more river miles in with same bugs as before but caddis were taking fish from the am into early afternoon with wind eating me up for most of the day
Friday 4/24 - Caddis in the am again, but blue quills stole the show for me later on in the day further down river I got with wind still having it’s way with me
Overall, great early spring trip with a good amount of fish up and eating.. First time out with my new raft and I enjoyed every second of it..
Most of my fish came from just watching banks and most of the rises were so soft you’d miss them if you didn’t spend time focusing on the water for a good minute, other times I had to ask myself “was that a fish?” and then would see it again and say Yes that’s a fish.
