Can you Identify this bobbin

The downside is it doesn't pop out of the printer ready to go. The guy who made those spools spent considerable time "finishing" them with a Dremel.

I suspect his finish work is smoothing down the spool's surface so it doesn't catch and fray the thread. FDM printers work in layers and often the outside isn't what you'd consider smooth.

We have a few 3'd printers at work for pattern making/ part making and they produce acceptable parts off the printer for silicone molding, ect. The young engineers have their own. The intricate work they produce is stunning. I've had a few custom parts made from them.
 
I saw some model railroad structures, fishing lures and other stuff made on 3D printers that were amazing near impossible to fabricate any other way.
 
A lot of that stuff, Bam, is likely resin printed versus FDM. Resin will also produce layer lines, but they're much finer.

I don't know diddly about it, but the fishing lure guy had a printer with a spool with filament feeding the printer and the model railroad stuff had pretty visible layers if you looked closely so I'm guessing it was FDM.

An interesting aside is I know a few fanatical folks that are reproducing various plastic parts via 3D printing that were originally molded. Those parts required a design with gaps or voids in unimportant areas to aid the release of the plastic from the molds. The 3D versions don't need these gaps so the folks that think they matter can find out for sure.

Something I never thought about when looking at somewhat intricate molded plastic parts...
