Time Fished: 545pm - 645pm
Weather Conditions: Sunny, 85 degrees, light wind
Water Conditions: Low, Clear, no temperature taken
Insects: saw a couple dozen sz 20 Caddis and some pools had tons of midges.
I ended up at the Selkirk bridge. This had been a very good location. Large holes held lots of trout. They usually stocked browns so that made streamer and dry fly fishing even better. Today was the first time I fished this specific location on Caldwell and never had a strike. Decent holding water was still available but not the larger pools which held so many trout. Currently there are areas with wood or roots that would attract trout but I didn’t bring any fish out from the cover. Which could be all on me.
The area was definitely disrupted by the high water events a few weeks ago. Trees weren’t where they should be. Water was running into the creek at places where water hasn’t ever run. That all made it harder to maneuver (ducking under limbs, climbing steeper, muddier banks, etc).
Bottomline, I didn’t fare well. Maybe another ambitious soul can crack the code.
