I was in Perry County this weekend for the 250 year celebration of a little town called Blain. We have a cabin there in Blain and I threw my fly fishing gear in my truck just in case an opportunity presented itself. That opportunity came on Saturday morning and I fished a quarter mile stretch of a small stream called Bull Run. The stream gets a few small stockings and is healthy enough to support native brookies. Water was low, gin clear, and felt to be in the low to mid 60s. Nothing coming off the water and didn’t expect much, but I hammered them on Ants, Foam Beetles, and Elk Hair caddis. Caught one stocked rainbow, a half dozen browns, and 3 native brookies. It was a great little morning.
