This was my first time fishing this stream ever but I knew it was promising based off the work TU has done. I was very impressed with all the flow diverters and it was very nice to fish. Flows were moderate and only one diverter was out of the water fully and the water was mostly clear. My brother missed a rainbow and I landed one on a red and black foam dry that VAGUELY looks like a cicada. I saw 4 risers in the time there and 3 were to cicadas. We'll be going back for sure.

I was there earlier on the same day. Cicadas everywhere. If there were fish in any particular pool they were eating cicada patterns. If not, no eats. I had at least 30 eats on a TCO bought cicada pattern. ZERO fish landed. Local International Angler bought flies, zero takes, they are 2 sizes too small for the naturals. The hook gap is not big enough on the TCO flies. I always tie my own flies, but had a bunch of tying to do for a Canadian fly in trip, so I figured I'd just buy 8 cicadas instead of learning a new foam pattern. Bad idea. Guess what I was doing last night? yep, tying with foam, which I do not enjoy. lol

Bump for a return.

Went back 6/14 from 5-9 and fished the exact same section. The stream was the exact same as before but maybe slightly stained more. The fish were VERY eager to take the foam dries. Especially in black. Most were around 10-12" with an occasional 14". Hopefully this sticks around until July!

That's a real good evening on Buffalo. As long as the water stays up and the nights cool down the water temp could remain in an acceptable range to fish. However the water there is generally skinny and it warms up too much to fish it. So you should keep going back while conditions are favorable because it usually doesn't last too long into June.

Maybe this year will be different.

With all the rain that's forecast, water levels there should be no concern for awhile
