Time Fished: 8am - 930am
Weather Conditions: Cloudy 68 degrees
Water Conditions: Very Cloudy, 64 degrees
Insects: A few small Caddis
I originally headed to the DHALO section. It had been raining on my entire drive to the stream and when I arrived it was pretty high with about 18 -24 inches of visibility. As I was driving the length of the project to figure out where other people were, the skies let loose. It rained as hard as it possibly could for 10 minutes and turned the stream to chocolate. The stream is pretty small up that far with mud banks so any runoff makes a pretty big impact.
I could see brighter skies to the SE so I drove to Boggsville and the water was much clearer there. I decided to fish instead of heading home but of course it got progressively muddier as time went on. I fished a wooly bugger and caught a bass and had 2 other strikes.
I expected to have better luck with good water temp and a rising flow. Maybe there aren’t many trout left in this open water section. It does have some pretty good holding water due to a series of stream improvements from years past. If the rain had arrived mid-morning I think this would have been a decent day.
