Brodhead Creek, PA, 4/15/22

250 CFS @ Analomink
Water temp in the mid 50s
Air temp in the mid 60s
Fished from 10-ish to 4pm

Beautiful day. Sunny, little wind, very few clouds.
Water was very clear.

Small caddis (I’d guess sz 18-20) hatched in the morning, sz 16 BWOs around noon, and something larger, maybe sz 12, in the afternoon. Hendrickson’s?

I fished a few spots on the Brodhead, starting at Forevergreen and ending in the parks around Stroudsburg.

No luck at Forevergreen. Didn’t see any rises despite lots of bugs. Few other people there but didn’t see anyone catch anything. It’s a tough spot, haven’t had much luck there recently.

The Stroudsburg parks were packed with anglers. A couple in particular kept pulling fish out of the same hole for maybe an hour straight. One caught a huge palomino just before I left. Lots of rising fish here.

Did you FF the wild section below the RR tracks in Analomink? I haven't had much luck in the Forevergreen section either.

Nope! I've actually never made it down that far. Not sure how to access? I think I've had the most luck in the Forevergreen section in summer, right before the water gets too warm to fish.

Thanks for the report, dennisl. If it makes you feel better I took a beating a month ago in the same stretch in much less water. 250 is a bit pushy for this time of year up there. Another few degrees in water temp, and they seem to be much more willing to come off the bottom. 250 with those water temps, you are basically just feeding the crick tungsten if you want any action. Time for the cheapest "guide style" stoneflies you have no problem losing in bulk... Caddis should help the cause soon, I hope!
