Brodhead Creek, Monroe Co. 10-9-2015

On my way to a music gig nearby, I arrived at the stream just after the rain. Water was clear and higher than normal with lots of leaves. Forgot to temp it but seemed like mid 50's to me. It was after five before I got rigged and fishing and the location was well above were it had been recently stocked. Bugs were BW0, tiny maybe 22-24. about a sz. 18 light colored caddis, and a few ISO's (I think). Anyway nothing rising, so I rigged up a bright caddis pupa, and a gray wet fly for the dropper. Missed one, then foul hooked a beautiful streambred Brown of about 13". Next cast yielded a skinny rainbow. Managed another small but scrappy brown, but the light went down in a hurry so I headed for the Royal Asian Buffet. Nice to get out; it had been too long!

Eastern Fly Fishing Nov/Dec issue has an article on Brodhead

Where can issues of Eastern Fly Fishing usually be found (other than online)? Barnes and Noble? ****'s? Dunkelberger's? The former seems unlikely and I'm struggling to think of magazine displays in the latter two.

Try your local fly shop. They might have the magazine.

Thanks! I struck out looking at Dunk's and ****'s this morning (and, to make matters worse, got skunked on Brodhead right beforehand).

Fishing is pretty tough right now if you dont know the stream well. Barely any water in it right now. Fished it yesterday afternoon and did well. Got 5-6 fish on nymphs and a couple on olive emergers. Nice day to be out.
