Slept in not realizing the weather forecasters apparently still can't interpret radar. Looked at the map and noticed there wasn't any rain even close to Chesco so headed to the W. Brandy around ten. Water was a little tinged, 66, and below average flow. Overcast skies with only a couple rises. I took one on top (hooked two) and another down, but spent most of my time exploring. Had a nice hike but most of the water was very shallow and the few pools I found were strewn with fishing line. Did take a small rainbow out of a shallow riffle. Got back to the truck and still no rain so I headed over to the East Br. Water was 69 and dead clear; almost no insect life (again) Fished one shallow run before I encountered a minnow slinger who pulled the classic move of reversing his field (he was going down as I was heading up) and he proceeded to fish every run that I was planning on hitting. Now I was already soaked (100% humidity) and didn't really feel like jumping out and running up ahead of him (sinking to his level) so I patiently covered the water he had just fished, taking some satisfaction in landing four trout; a couple were about 13". Also missed a few and caught a couple random chubs and tiny smallies. Threw in the towel a little after three satisfied that if nothing else at least I still remembered how to catch trout. Anyway a sz 16 black ant did the most damage and I was thankful just to get out for a change.
