Weather: Post Thunderstorm/Misty/Warm

Water Temp: Unknown

Water Clarity: Light stain 90%

Water Level: Average (based on what I remember from fishing it semi-regurlarly 20 years ago)

Hatches: Some mixed mayfly spinner activity, a few downwings, in general a very light smorgasborg

We're back east, visiting the relatives earlier than last summer. My oldest son and I headed over to Bob's (about 20 minutes from where we are staying in New Germany) Friday evening to give it a go.

I tied on a #16 cream parachute, which looked about as good as anything with the different stuff that was coming off-this was a deal of not a lot of bugs, but several types, something that happens about this time of year. We hiked upstream til we found a pool with some active fish and got one to take, a nice 12" brown that showed lots of color, if he was once a stockie. The boy found at least 3 kinds of very brightly colored salamanders, that was kinda neat. We topped it off by jumping a timberdoodle on the way back to the vehicle.

In town thru Friday, we'll try to get out again.

You're obviously not a hunter. 🙂

What he means is he flushed a game bird known as a woodcock ("timberdoodle" is a nickname).

I thought it was a rattle snake. Thanks for reporting on Bob's. It doesn't get enough attention or credit from conservation-minded anglers. I haven't been there in a couple years, having been on a sort of "limestone" kick for the most part.

Incidentally, may I note how a complete newcomer apparently got the titling of the stream report exactly as it should be. Thanks for taking the extra time to do so.
