I last fished this stream in 2008, and have always wanted to return. Today was the day.
General stocked waters area, north of Pavia at different pull offs.
Fished 10-1:30, lunch break, 230-4
Air temp 2 PM was 85, water temp at 2 PM was 58
Water was higher than average, nearby streams with usgs gauges were light blue dots. Water was clearing as day progressed, clear where shallow, slightly murky in deeper and faster water; crossing the stream was challenging.
Essentially no bug activity on surface, no rising fish.

I had dreams of fishing cicadas, but I misread or misinterpreted the maps. Duh.
Fished wooly buggers in deeper holes and pockets, switched to an X Caddis for searching other areas. Caught 8, and had about same number of swipes and tugs. Five browns from 9-11” and 3 rainbows from 10-12”. All fought hard in the cold swift water, a lot of fun. The browns gave me one chance, 1 and done, while the rainbows gave me a second chance if I missed. All browns had a deep red adipose fin so am assuming they were wild. Already looking forward to my next trip there.
