BIG SPRING Oct.11th special reg area :)

i have been to big spring a few times now and havent been able to move a fish above the newville water fall yet. while i have cuaght many wild bows and even one brookie below those falls.....just never above it. (but then again i never had been to the ditch b4).

we started fishing well below the ditch at a small pull off and we did see alot of trout. but as usual down in this area....the stream is very shallow and the trout super spooky. spectorfly mnanaged to spook a heard of about 20 trout. :-D we went up stream to the next pull off (last one before the ditch and i spooked one trout in that area and spectorfly missed one in a riffle. nicer water but still very shallow.....

Then we made it to the ditch! WOOOOOOOW! it is amazing how dramatically differnt the stream is in just a short distance. It has depth and vegataion...and most improtantly ...BROOKIES! i was amazed how in such a short stretch there are some many trout and each of the 3 species.

I only did see one brown though but he was over 20 inches. he dug up a bunch of weeds and dirt and chewed on it for about 2 minutes and then dissappeared. WOW what a great fish. :-D

We couldnt seem to get a strike on wolly buggers...didnt surpise me since we were fishing heavily pressured and fertile waters. But we did have it to ourselves and i had time to experiment. No hatches were appearent and no fish were rising. i tied on a tandem rig of a cress bug and at the bottom a olive shrimp. LET THE GAMES BEGIN! :-D i caught a ton of trout on the shrimp and 1 on the cress bug. This fish a gorgous. the brookies and bows are just beautiful and looking very very healthy. :-D

no u can laugh at me or say what u want...but are there some cuttbows or a differnt strain of bows in big spring? or maybe this is just how they look? i caught one that had a incedencet orange belly with orange and red unser his chin and gill plates....there is a pic at the bottom. what do u guys think? never saw a bow like this.

anyways all and all this part of our trip did not disappoint and i will be returning to Big spring in this area again! :-D

sorry spector.......there is one in there but no i didnt take too many of the actual ditch, but not to fret....im thinking of hitting falling spring (maybe letort) and big spring towmorrow....ill get some then :-D

oh yeah, BTW, plz any regular fisherman plz....shed some light on that rainbow i caught. i found that fish very odd looking. :-o is this normal? 🙂
