Fished Big Spring for the first time on Saturday. Arrived at 9 am at the "ditch". Air temperature was 57 and overcast. Did not have a stream thermometer so no water temps. Only shared the stream with two other guys from Md/Va for about an hour before they left.
Started to fish the outflow of the ditch with a sz 16 scud. Landed about 15 rainbows and missed about half that. Tried my luck in the "ditch" but nothing working for me. I will have to talk with FishIdiot before I go next time.
I then worked my way down to the next pulloff picking up another dozen or so rainbows, this time with a sz 16 no-hackle caddis. It started to rain, I'm guessing around 12:30 or so. Never looked at the clock. Walked back up to outflow of the ditch and picked up a few more rainbows on the caddis.
All fish were between 6" and 9".
