Fished from 8am-1230pm. I began with the open section just up from the nursing home and fished to the lower boundary of the sp. reg area. I managed three stocked brookies about 9" and a stocked brown of 10" all on a #14 BH Prince w/indicator. I've always liked the water up from the Green Ridge Village Nursing Home-it's a shame that they continue to stock it and have it plundered in April. This stretch would make a GREAT extension to the sp. reg area...I also managed to fish the lower end of the sp. reg area which has bounced back quite nicely since the hatchery closure. I picked up another four small rainbows all

ya unfortunately your are mostly correct. there are some sections of the open water that i have learned and just fallen in love with on big spring, even in its degraded condition. i can only imagine what this entire stream must have looked like before the hatchery.
i have caught some brookies under the bridge of the lower marker of the special regs area but if you really want brookies, you haveto go to the ditch. there are a few really nice ones in there too :-D
shame what happened to this brook trout fishery...i dont ever see it recoving fully. :-(
