Spent the most of the day (10 - 4) exploring Big Spring. I started at the Ditch and the nice runs right below it and then walked a long way down the road and worked my way back upstream nymphing and occasionally chucking streamers when i found larger fish. I have fished here probably two times previously but never really had a lot of luck i guess cuz it seems so shallow and lacking in cover and broken water. With the amount of herons and kingfishers i saw i am surprised at the amount of trout in there. Most of my work was done blind casting just covering water which worked real well, i lost count of how many fish were landed (15-20, i dont know). None were very large, probably 13 or 14 inches at max, and all were rainbows. Really wanted to get at least one brookie but theres always next weekend. All but one were caught on midge larvae, the exception was on a dry midge. Saw a few BWO's and tons of little dark midges around the bridges.
Tried to post some pics of those pretty little bows to cure some winter blues but im a technology idiot. Ill try again later.

On Monday, in the same stretch of water, five PAFFers (the Skunk Squad) all together didn't catch near as many fish as you did.....good job Daren.

Thanks Afish, just luck though. i think it means alot to be the first one on the water when it comes to the small spring creeks.
