I fished the ditch and some of the middle sections today. I lost a couple at the ditch before finally catching a fat 12-13in brookie on a scud. I think that was about the biggest wild brookie i ever caught. I wish I had a picture but my mom and the camera were in the car at the time. Shortly after I caught a small brookie and a nice rainbow on the same scud and pics were taken of both. we moved downstream, but the fish commission seemed to be doing some kind of a survey near the bridge by the old folks home. I couldnt tell if they were electro shocking or not because they were just finishing up as we drove by. so we back tracked and went up to where the new stream restoration was done. By this time the sky had lightend up and the wind started blowing which made casting tough. I fished my way down and caught a few beautiful small rainbows on my reliable scud pattern. I then switched to a deer hair beetle with no success. The clouds then started to darken and it was time to get the heck out of there before the storm. No matter how many (more often than not zero 🙂) fish i catch on these limestone streams its always a fun time and great learning experience.
