Time fished: 02:00 pm- 04:30 pm
Weather: Cloudy, but clearing. It started to get gusty as I was leaving. Temperatures in the mid 50s with a couple of rain drops.
Water: High with good color. A lot of run off from the recent snow event. I did not get a stream temp, but it was very cold to the touch.
Hatches: A good amount of midges (size 20-24), some black stoneflies on the wooded areas and crawling around in the snow piles (size 18), and some spotty BWOs (size 20)
Techniques: I started with a nymphing set up and a streamer set up. I switched over to a dry dropper with a parachute above a Frenchie nymph. The nymphing set up produced a nice hold over rainbow right off the bat. I had a couple swipes on the streamer and saw another gentleman hooked upon using streamers. I noticed a couple fish rising in the slack water right on the banks, so I switched over. The dry dropper produced steady results with about 60 percent of the fish taking the Frenchie nymph. The better sized wild browns wanted the parachute for some reason (no complaints here). Fun day to break up the cabin fever a bit.
