You got that right. I thought I had one 20" but no matter what I did could not get the tape past 19". LOL.

20" is pretty rare on central PA streams. In the last three years, I've caught ONE legit 20" wild fish in a few hundred days and nights on the stream.
I did get a 19" brown on BFC a few years ago. Biggest this year was 17". I was always under the impression that "Big" Fishing Creek is in Clinton county (near little fishing creek) and Fishing Creek is in Columbia county.

Doesn't Fishing Creek in Columbia County has two branches (North and South maybe?) and once they combind they become Big Fishing Creek.
And Clinton County was just fishing Creek.
I also think that Fishing Creek in Clinton County has more wild fish over the 20" mark than Spring Creek. I usually see them all the time, but only for a glimps.
Spring has a lot, but I think they drop out of the hatcheries.
Spring's get caught more because of the nature and pressure of that stream.
Fishing Creek's are smart and elusive.
And Clinton County was just fishing Creek.

I don't know much about Fishing Creek in Columbia Co. but as a local Fishing Creek in Clinton Co. has always been refered to as Big Fishing Creek. The streams are very different. The biggest difference is the Clinton Co. stream is a Limestone stream and Columbia Co. stream is a Freestone stream. The fish in Big Fishing Creek are very elusive and shy. They are the most difficult population of trout I fish for. IMO the only simularity between the two streams is the name! LOL Spring Creek trout are used to seeing people because of the streams location so are less shy and don't spook as easily. Some trout there are escapes but there are many "Wild" big trout too. I caught my second Brook trout ever from Spring Creek several weeks ago. He was 12" long and just exceptionally gorgeous. I think he was wild. Oh yea I have yet to catch a 20" trout in Spring or BFC but I know they are there and I'm still after them! LOL.

They both are Fishing Creek. According to the F&BC who trumps historic nomenclature of mapping when it comes to our interests, shows both the Clinton and Columbia county streams as Fishing Creek. The one in Columbia County is "Bigger" so I always referred to it as BFC, and get a nervous tic when anyone naming FC in Clinton as BFC.

I call the Clinton County stream Big Fishing Creek (occasionally dropping the "big" in familiar conversation), as many of its locals do and I always will. The Columbia County stream has always been known to me as just Fishing Creek, the only reference using Big for this stream I have ever seen is in the monthly Mid-atlantic Fly-fishing Guide and it drives me crazy.
The USGS is in charge of official geographic names, and according to them the official name of both streams is "Fishing Creek."
Agencies such as the PFBC and DCNR and PennDot usually name things the same as the official USGS names. I've seen a few exceptions, but this isn't one of them.

Fishing Creek in Clinton Co. will always be BIG to me.

Fishing Creek in Clinton County is the ONLY Fishing Creek one needs to know.
As far as Spring and its bigger fish I gota agree most are hatchery excapies. My brother and I caught 2 or 3 the one day 20-24 inches long but later found out by someone who works at the hatchery that they were recently released. It used to be like that around the Tylersville hatchery also on Fishing Creek.
Fishing Creek though the majority of your big fish are wild trout even in the stocked section. We know this for a fact since my dad is retired and watches all the stockings. It depends on a lot where you go and just being persistant whether you catch big fish or not. My fishing techniques rarely change when fishing for big fish but I do have certain sections of the streem I hit just for big trout.
