Water: clear, 63 degrees, flow:just above median around 175cps
Weather: mostly cloudy; 60's to about 70
Bugs A few tan caddis and lots of midges;very few risers
Fished the Scout Camp with a friend, almost exclusively riffles, and pocket water. My set up was a 10' 3/4 with about 4' of leader to a sighter and then 4-5' of 4x tippet. Flies were a Tungsten caddis pupa with a no.18 clear bead head dropper on 5X.
Caught fish pretty steadily though the wading was just as treacherous as remembered. Studded boots and a staff kept my upright; a small moral victory. Made a point of hitting spots that were challenging and that definitely paid off.
My friend was struggling (as in skunked) and he fishes there fairly often. After giving him my rod and positioning him in a good spot he did managed to land a trout and hooked and lost another. Sadly he had a good 10' rod at home but had never set it up, so I did that before I left.
A peaceful getaway with only one other group of three fishing while we were there. Probably landed over a doz. though wasn't counting and most were on the little bead head, tight lining. A few hits on the swing and missed just about all of them. A shame this stream warms up so quickly; probably my only shot there til fall at least.
