Best Revenge after Getting High Holed?

With a couple days of clouds and cool temps, followed by some rain in SEPA (though not enough) I fished from 6 to 10 AM yesterday and had a good outing. I almost let getting high holed ruin my morning. The approach to this spot is in the water, and I had already wet waded balls-deep at 5:30 AM to get here.

There was no turning back or moving locations, which is my typical approach, especially when dude looks like a newbie (standing where you should be fishing is often a clear sign!). Dude skipped the difficult but rewarding part and must have skirted around me bushwhacking. I could smell smoke at one point, but in SEPA that could be anyone smoking in the woods at any hour of the day.... I just fished up behind dude until he quit. I sure hope he saw the splashing 25 yards down yonder 😉

I landed a bunch of fish, including two high teens, and I broke one off in the 20s, which gave me the adrenaline dry heaves for a minute. I was so close to netting this fish, so close! The fish below in the net is the same one doing her blurry rainbow impression (not having a photoshoot).

Sometimes I want to be the bigger man or educate, sometimes I just want a jamoke to know how much he needs to learn and the hard way. Am I a bad guy?

No,that doesn't make you a bad guy. I will probably never have a YouTube channel. If I did ,one of my first fishing videos would be on stream side etiquette and why " high holers" suck. Beginners can learn all kinds of stuff on YouTube but doesn't seem to be many videos about respecting other fisherman. Maybe its just another way social media has failed us?

No, you're not a bad guy at all. But, I would have at least mentiond that intentionally doing what he did to you is poor streamside etiquette, and that there are folks out there who would have given him a whooping for said behavior. 😆
By the way, that last brown is a beauty!

I always liked to stay put and out fish the interloper(s) - when asked “whut are ya yoozin’?, I’d tell them I tipped my flies with pieces of night crawler or sometimes that I spit on my flies after eating at McDonalds for lunch - kept ‘em guessing and usually they’d leave shortly after

The best revenge is to go learn a dozen other streams/spots where the fishing is good and you seldom even see any other anglers, and when you do, they're likely to be someone you enjoy chatting with.

Great pics. Just hope hes not from the new breed fishers with a you tube and a addiction for likes and self glory....there invading at a alarming rate. Totally diff motives for the most part..i agree with you they want instant gratification ane arent the most patient bunch

Appreciate that! I just point, shoot, and crop later. I think I had to brighten this one up because it was in a dark, shady spot on a cloudy morning. I love how the colors popped myself 👍

Some days I am a better ambassador for the sport than others. Today was not that day.

Oh, I have those, for sure. That's why I am usually the bigger man and just fish somewhere else. I also live in Philly, so some days I just want to drive an hour, and I am prepared to stomach what life presents on a weekend morning....
