Air temp - 40 degrees

Water Temp - 50 degrees (was a ways for the spring)

Time of Day: 9:00 AM to 3 PM

Location: Fished the entire lower sction of the catch and relase section.

Hatches: Many midges and a few black stones. Many BWO nymphs, cress bugs, and midges under the surface.

It was great day to be on the water. 1st time out on my home stream. 5 fish to hand. One stocker rainbow 12" and 5 hold over browns 6 - 9 inches. All form a beaver dam recently constructed.

Many guys were catching stocked RB on mini marshmallows. Need to come up with a fly for that.

Most of the fish caught ona size 18 PT nymph as a dropper. One took my hopper I was using for a float.

I used to tie a fly that looked like a piece of bread by spinning white deer hair and using a brown marker to make the crust. At the time and perhaps even today, people would feed bread to newly stocked fish a way of assessing what was stocked ina particular area prior to opening day. The fly cast like a brick, but was quite effective. I also tied a mulberry fly to catch trout feeding below a mulberry tree on Big Spring. Worked equally as well for carp.

Curious as to the rules on the catch in release on Beaver Creek. Fishermen on allowed to use marshmallows?

No. Here are the regs:

You may not possess trout while fishing in these areas.
All trout caught must be immediately released and returned to the water.
You may only fish with artificial flies and streamers constructed in a normal fashion using natural and/or synthetic materials, which may include feathers, fur, hair, tinsel, thread, fiber, plastic, cork, wire and rubber on a single hook with the components wound on or around the hook. Specifically prohibited are the use of molded replicas of insects, earthworms, fish eggs, fish or any invertebrate or vertebrate either singly or in combination with other materials, or other lures commonly described as spinners, spoons, or plugs made of metal, plastic, wood, rubber or similar substance or a combination of these.

However, there is open water from special regs area up to the hatchery, and I assume that's where marshmallows were being used.

It's ridiculous they stock that section between special regs area and hatchery. It has 5 times the biomass of wild browns that would be needed for class A listing in PA - based on MDNRs own survey results.
