Any Berks Co. creeks still cold enough for trout?

I have also observed LMB in the lower end in the Winter. Those fish have to love that 50 deg water that time of year.

When I was there in March a few years ago, I saw some big bass down on the lower end. Pretty interesting little area

Way more veg than before. (40 years?) They used to mow both sides all the way up to the spring. It was basically a park. the lower end below the road was always sparse of fish but from and including under the road there used to be a lot of really spooky fish. Used to be able to catch a few in the little jack dam pool about half way to the spring.

Has anyone ever proposed a habitat project for Peters Creek? It's so obviously channelized/ditched.

That needs full restoration to restore meander patterns and lots of wood for habitat complexity

I asked about that creek years ago and was told that the county considers it a Heritage site. (The stream banks were walled of by the CCC in the 1930s to create a straight channel). Perhaps the commissioners can be approached again. Tully TU would be the primary restoration partner if there was interest.

I fully agree that it should be restored contrary to the ex biologist on this site. When I approached Tully TU 15 years ago or more about restoring the creek, the response I got was interesting.

"God is handling that creek just fine."

I laugh now because I know God handles all things just fine in His sovereignty regardless of how much man tries to mess it up but I do believe He works through us for good too, full heartedly.

Peters could be a wonderful classic little spring creek with wild brook trout. A rare thing anymore.

Is anything more Heritage in SEPA than our states native fish in a healthy spring creek?
