Fished for 2 hrs primarily as an exploration run with a spinner, as I wanted to cover some ground, yet still provide info that would of interest to local fly anglers who might overlook this stream. It is the only stretch of stream that I have ever seen that has recovered on its own from severe stormwater runoff erosion and channel damage. This has largely occurred apparently because the major landowner stopped mowing the lawn right up to the edge of the stream bank, which now has about a 100 ft set-back and is largely wetland. Flow was excellent and water temp was 60 F. I especially got to “test” that because I half-way fell in….water down only one side of wader. Hatching were a few sulphurs and blue-winged olives. Plus, given my catch, a white streamer should work well right now. Caught three stocked Browns and had what appeared to be three wild Browns get off at my feet. Catching wild Browns there despite suburbia is not unusual. Survey data show wild BT extending downstream to Rt 422 with a variable upstream wild brown trout limit of appx Rt 562, although they have been found as far upstream as the village of Stony Creek.
