Anchor ice is coming.

Good habitat (depth and cover) is important for supporting trout all year. That's most obvious in drought conditions, but it's also surely true in anchor ice conditions too.

A 3 foot deep pool with an undercut bank that goes well back under the bank would be a better place to survive icy conditions than a flat, featureless stretch that's only 6 inches deep.

That's very true, but my concern is for humans. Not so much the trout.

Well bills is frozen shut...missed the anchor ice form. Theres gonna be some streambed scouring and ice jams when this lets loose

Until I read this thread I was all for the ice. I was hoping the ice, when it breaks free, will carve up my local creeks and make some new features. It seems like the creek beds no longer change, even after a blowout. Its so bad I get excited when a tree falls in the water.

Yeah i hear ya some creeks need scoured
