Allegheny creek, Berks pa, 5/8/16

Decided to take a trip down around 3:30 today once the wind started dying down. Water was pretty high in most areas, around 55 degrees or so. As soon as I got to the stream there where hundreds of black midges in the air... fish rising occasionally , but nothing to get excited about. Fished for a half hour with only just a few misses to show for it, walked upstream a bit and tied on a size 18 black midge and hooked into what appeared to be a rainbow and lost the fish in a fallen down tree. After that I kept walking up stream and tying different streamers on looking for a bite. Had a few more misses before I hooked and landed a little rainbow around 12 inches. Kept walking upstream and explored some new spots. It was stocked the 18th of last month and I'm probably the only one still fishing it... Fish are still there and a couple 15-18 fish. It's ashame how this stream gets no credit because I think it's one of the prettiest streams in Berks.
