I use OnWater App. For a long time I did everything manually - mapping, looking up owner/parcel data, bookmarking USGS sites, moon phases etc. The app makes that easier (for a price) but there are a few really good tools in it now. They just released an AI assistant inside the app, and I have only played with it for a couple days, but I could see it being very helpful in the future to plan trips, have alternate options, do research, etc.

I am still not sure how I feel about the water usage stuff though. Perhaps the big data centers will develop closed loop cooling sooner than later and stop evaporating all the water.

The browns not only grow large near the coast but from what I can tell I believe they may also grow some extra fins from time to time.

Yeah maybe the coast of reactor number 3 in chernobyls cooling ponds

On the more serious side, we may be doomed.

Very easy to see how this tech could be weaponized: i.e. rile people up, manipulate & herd the sheep.

Its here to stay folks. Work encourages us to use it to 'work better' by saving time, improving analytical/coding efficiencies to let it do repetetive tasks, etc.

I don't think you can have it both ways, though.

Is it really efficient if the actual energy expended at the battery of data centers to 'solve a problem' requires ' power ' that has environmental cost and peril? Was that instant answer worth, say a day saved over a human solving the same problem? Maybe on paper. For sure that human had to eat and produce waste, too; and that has environmental cost as well. Some deeply philosophical complexities with this crap, not unlike the overpopulation debates.
