9 Books for PA Fly Fishing Forum Members - $65

Pennsylvania, New York and other nearby areas of the country have had many fly fishermen and fly tyers over the years that have laid the foundations of our sport today. From the Cumberland Valley to the upper Allegheny to the Catskills and places in between, writers of these 8 books, Fox, Grove, Koch, Flick, Jennings, Bashline, Wetzel, Lively (and others) played a large part in doing that a generation or 2 ago.

Overall, these books are in excellent condition (with just some minor signs of wear). All are hardbacks, except Chauncey Lively’s Fly Box, a PB.

I’d like to sell all 9 together to established forum members for $65.00, picked up in New Holland, PA, or I’ll ship them in the US for the actual shipping cost, paid by PayPal. (I might consider selling most, but not all 9 together in one lot, if you already have I or 2 of these books, for example, but I’m not interested in selling just 1 or 2 books separately. I think that my asking price is fair, but I’ll also consider reasonable offers.)

This Wonderful World of Trout is THE book that got me into Fly Fishing at 9 years old.
Seriously. I was a fishing crazy kid but didn't know what fly fishing was......I just saw trout.
Bought it for a whopping $.25 at a flea market with my own money. 😁
Just a GREAT book that I've read cover to cover a dozen times.......the picture of Ed Koch with the 9lb brown on a cricket is what melted my brain.
That and the beautiful Ned Smith illustrations.
I have since added a signed first edition copy to my collection but still have that first one for 45 years now!

What a wonderful story of how you got into this world of fly fishing for trout, Matt, and I can relate to everything you’ve said. In the early 1970’s, about the time the 2nd issue of this book was published (and I had read this book) I fished through Charlie’s property on the Letort, caught some nice brown trout, and thought to myself “this is a lot easier than they said it would be”. Later, I learned the truth. NOT!! 😃

I don't. I've never been much of a night fisherman, but you're absolutely right, this is where Jim did so much of it.
