Water temps up to 65 DegF.
Insect activity included BWO, Light Cahills, Yellow Stone Flies, Black Caddis.
First outing was to the flat upstream from the Ross Run parking area on Sunday evening. Water was gorgeous and flow was manageable enough to reach rising fish from close to the near bank out to midstream. I was knocking off rust for fishing bigger water with a 9' rod, but I managed to net a 12" brown on a Light Cahill. I also had some lookers and hooked/lost a few after the fly sunk and I was swinging it for the pickup. (I sabotaged my efforts by experimenting with a leader that I hand-furled myself. I managed to turn over about one out of five casts, so I'm going back to the knotted ones.) The two sons I had with me were using heavier rods with streamers and had some misses.
Monday morning was more of the same as the evening before with BWO spinners on the water at Clark Farm/Utceter (?) Station. I got a couple acrobatic rainbows and a 14" brown on polywing spinners. The boys also got a couple with whatever they were using.
Monday evening was somewhat dramatic with high flows and rising water. Nothing caught, although there were fish rising.
Regards, Glenn
