After a long winter of getting skunked at every creek i've been to, this was a nice change of pace. I have been fly fishing for a little under a year now so i'm still working on nymphing and finding out what works. I wanted to attempt to hook into some wild browns so I gave this creek a try. Fished from 2:30 to 5:30 and had 3 hits early on but couldn't set the hook right. Kept fishing up the creek with no action. Saw one brownie, at least 12 inches, sitting in the bottom of a deep hole which took me by surprise. I just watched him for a bit before he swam under an embankment. Headed back to the holes I got hook-ups in and threw a few casts. Ended up hooking into one 6 inch brownie on a BHPT. Tied on a cooper john and immediately hooked into another brownie, around 8 inches. Both very pretty wild browns. Both fish jumped out of my hands before I could get pictures so i'll head out soon to try and catch them again 🙂 Only two fish came to hand that afternoon but it was still a great day and nice to be out in the warmer weather!
