Shipping will need added into the above pricing or can meet up in western PA. Let me know of any questions.

Not opposed to offers , especially if interested in multiples.

How well do you reckon that Douglas can toss a heavy indicator rig? I'm contemplating it for an Erie steelhead rod.

Also, how good is that St Croix with dries?

Thank you for your time, Shane

The Douglas can toss any amount of weight you would need for Erie and more, i was using a rio chucker tossing 2 flies, indicator, and shot with ease. The extra reach is nice and was not to much for the fish as i did not have them pop off as when running a 8wt 10' st croix.

To be honest asking how the St Crois with dries is gonna be a personal thing imo however i do recall it being a nice action not super crazy fast. Pending your location can always try and arrange something.

Good to know. You answered my questions on that rod perfectly. I do have a ways to go until I'll get to Erie again (NOV) so I have lots of time to decide what rods I want to buy and take up there. I think that rod would balance well with an Abel super 11 I have. That 11'6" length will provide fantastic reach, especially fishing the "trestle bridge hole", a hole I have yet to get a good drift through because the cross-currents are horrendous. What reel have you paired with it so I can get an idea for balance.

I'd be down to give the Legend Elite a cast. I live in Gap so I suspect we probably don't live close to one another so I doubt a rod test could be conducted. I'll be in contact with you if I decide to go through on either or both rods, thank you for your time. When I was a humble angler I had a Legend Ultra 5wt 9ft. It was my first rod and I never really appreciated it. I thought the tip was far too soft but I also had a minimal understanding of how a good fly rod should feel. I hope the Elite has a stiffer tip. I think the Legend Ultra and Elite are good looking sticks.

The added weight of the Abel will help more then hurt, i have been running a Lamson speedster 3.5 for all my steelheading as of late. The St Crois are very wonderful looking , it was also one of the first nice rods i got . I think the time they where out they sort of got over looked .

Lamson reels are relatively light reels. Great feeling reels, but they run light for their projected rod wt class. I do like my Guru but dropped it (on tile) so it now has a small dent in the frame but I don't think it effects the reel. They're light because there isn't a lot of material in their reels.

I agree on what you say about the St Croix Legend. Cabela's used to have some Elites on clearance. Based on inflation your rod is spot on terms of what you are selling it at. I think they retailed for around $425 when they were made. Would be a $600 rod had it been produced today.

I had that same legend elite (904.4). That was my go to for dries on med/large waters like Penns, little j or Tully. Faster side but not stiff. Tip is softer with enough backbone to toss 60+ feet. Traded it couple of years ago and kinda wish I had kept it.

I may entertain purchasing the St Croix and DXF come SEP depending on how smoothly my car inspection in AUG goes.

No check engine light as of now, but that could be subject to change. My car is filled with electric gremlins, and it's not even British!

I'm really intrigued by the St Croix. I have 3 9ft 4wts. Two no longer see action and the one is probably my favorite rod (it's going out today to combat some BRUISER bluegill at range). These rods are of a higher pedigree but I would like to compare it to them (I don't think it will best my preferred 9ft 4wt but we shall see). I also have a reel I wanna pair on it, which is why I'm buying it. It's a pretty rod too and only $150. If anything it will reside in my loaner pile, which is actually quite small as I am scared to loan out the majority of my rods.

St.Croix legend elite 9' 4wt ,

This looks like the rod I bought from Bruno for my kid. He loves it. Very nice rod.

I think Bruno's was a legend ultra or at least he had an ultra couple of years back

The Ultra is pretty stick. The dark green blank and the light tan wood insert makes one think of Winston. My first rod was an Ultra 5wt 9ft. I found it had too loose of a tip for my liking but this was also at the time I had a very small understanding of what a fly rod should be and wanted ultra-stiff rods. I have good memories on that stick with some decent size 14 inch smallmouth I picked up. My buddy who initially traded it to me has it... and I've been trying to snatch it back from him ever since. Seems the Ultra and Elite are hard to come buy these days. About 5 years ago the Cabela's bargain bin in Hamburg had a barrel full of Elites for about $250 a pop, well worth it! I'm really surprised no one has taken the Ultra yet.

The Sage esn has been sold .

Update on my current financial standings. Car passed safety (surprisingly) but emissions cannot be done yet as there are some sensors that have to reset ever since the last time I had the check engine light cleared, which was two weeks ago to this day. Once these sensors reset (I am going to check today to see if the car is ready for testing) then emissions can be run, unless the check engine returns, and then that will have to be diagnosed and repaired. Daily driving a Lamborghini has really taken its toll on me financially, don't recommend it.

Come September I will have to see if I am going steelheading this year to justify the DXF, but I will still want to purchase the Elite because I think it's pretty cool and I am curious about it. Really surprised that has not sold yet, especially with current rod prices due to inflation and the way the market is going.

All good , just let me know and good luck on the car.
