Why cant PA stock fish like this??

Marvin,

Having worked at a hatchery when I got out of the service, I'll comment on the "pink meat" question.

Wild fish eat a diet that does turn their flesh redish in color. 99.999999% of hatchery fish have plain white flesh. When you'd go to the store and see the rainbows laying on ice, they had red flesh. They weren't wild. About 10-14 days prior to going to market, we'd feed the fish pellets with dye in them. Start out with strong dose and then back down the levels as you got closer to the shipping date. Was the dye safe? I have no idea. I don't eat fish anyhow.

Getting back to the lighting trout thing....30 years of fly fishing and I've never caught one.

Andy,

The kids caught LIGHTNING TROUT there at limestone springs (i think that was the hatchery you worked at or near) and I'll be dammed if the LIGHTNING TROUT flesh was not incredibly pink. The bows were not. I assumed it was a coloration/pigmentation thing with the LIGHTNING TROUT. They were not "pink" like salmon, as i find that to be more of an orange color, nor were they blood pink like ahi tuna. Rather they had a distinctive pink color. No idea how they tasted as I gave them to my dad.

I love catching them cause theyre an easy target, I walk up and play the "what will this fish eat"

kray: ive taken a few trout later in the season and they had a more stable not so mushy meat, but still didnt care for it, but ive heard a couple guys say they taste better

I've kept one but i put it on the wall

I'm getting really bored in class what do you guys think new avatar?

I have caught a total of three "Lightning Trout" (aka Golden Rainbows). I really wanted to catch one just so I could say I did. After I caught the first one I was satisfied and really did not care if I caught another. They really are more of a novelty than anything IMO. Now a wild tiger trout is a completely different story. They are a real trophy IMO.

Sucks is the only time I caught them was when I was spin fishing and didnt realize it til I looked them up I caught 4 in one day, then I went back to the stream but only managed one. However in my week long trout bum vaca I plan on hitting a few streams very hard where there has got to be a few

LIGHTNING TIGERS!!!!

Some geneticist has got to get on that creation.

I watched this entire video last night. My wife was like, "why is this funny to you?" until she saw the slow motion and the sound effects hahahahahaha!

Those huge bows just looked ugly.

Love how the "monster" trout have no tails left. Been sitting in a cement tank for their whole lives and it all rubbed off.
