Hey all, been a lurker for a while but finally thought I had something worthy to post and discovered I needed this step first…been fly fishing since the mid ‘80s, self taught with books after a friend’s grandfather piqued my interest with his quasi-fly angling (he dead drifted minnows and tiny pieces of chicken liver with a fly rod). Grew up in the southern tier of NY, lived in Harrisburg area for a time, now stranded in a mostly troutless Ohio. Northcentral PA is still my happy place.

Welcome, My granddaughter lives in NE Ohio, she misses the trout too.

I’m 2 1/2 hours from even the steelhead fishery. We have literally two inland streams in the state that hold wild browns and they aren’t exactly Spring or Penns (by one estimate my favorite of the two, the Mad, holds maybe 100 fish per mile). I hit them whenever I can, and in a way they’re good because they’re tough, but I’ve come to accept my lot and embrace the carp…
