I know most of you won't care about this but today I was fishing the east branch brandywine DHALO. I caught a brown that was around 7-8 inches. This fish had real bright red dots on the sides and looked wild. It looked just like a typical valley creek fish. I was just wondering what you think the chances of it being wild are. I have myself convinced as of right now that this fish was streambred. I couldn't get a picture because I don't carry a camera and my cell phone camera is broken.

To the mods- sorry if I posted this in the wrong section. It was between this and stream locations.

Thats good news. Its most likley wild. In the warm summer months they run up the cooler tribs. I've always wonderd about the Brandywine. I know it offers good SM bass fishing. When I worked in Wilmington I would drive over the Brandywine often. How far up did you catch him? Theres an Orvis shop on 52 in DE (White Clay Outfitters). Give them I call.

I caught him all the way up in downingtown in the dhalo section of the east branch. The water is suprisingly different than near wilmington. First, its smaller, and it moves quicker.

In this book by charles meck that I have, he says there are wild fish in the upper east branch. Plus there are two feeder streams where I caught that one.

There are occasional wild brown trout found in the E Br. Brandywine DHALO area. These are fish that have moved in from a tributary that is perhaps miles away. And, they need to keep moving, otherwise they will be par-boiled by late June or July in that stretch. If you wish to find even more of these fish go upstream to the regular stocked trout stretch but fish downstream from Indian Run (creek). No need to stay in the DH Area to find fish, stocked or wild. Good luck.

By the way, because this DHALO area gets so warm in summer it is a particularly good one to harvest fish from once June 15 rolls around.
