Lamenting the current high water temperatures of the Tulpehocken as I fondly remember weekend mornings many years ago fishing the trico hatch at the Water Works to catch football rainbows, and now I read nothing but bad news about the Little Lehigh my other go to spot for years (although I have missed the past few years, apparently not missing much.) I read of dependable tricos at Spring Creek between Bellefonte and Bald Eagle, wondering where else are there dependable trico hatches?

At least when it comes to organic pollution and sedimentation, the types usually associated with extremes of agricultural runoff and a substantial component of suburban stormwater runoff, Tricos are quite tolerant. They are poor indicators of pollution, as they can withstand a lot.

Is there any suggestion that Trico hatches have disappeared from the Tully DH Area? I have not paid attention since the time that I conducted angler surveys during the very substantial Trico hatches in the DH Area in perhaps the 2010-2012 time period or thereabouts. Those very substantial hatches during the survey were occurring in the last week of June, which was 3 wks before the time that the lake typically runs out of the cold water reserve, although this year the lake most likely ran out of the cold water reserve a few weeks ago due to the need for increased discharges associated with storm events.
