Uncle Johns Elk Creek Campground - Elk Creek, Erie, PA

Appears this property is up for sale, due to an issue between the owner and the township. Just wanted to get that info out there, as this may affect stream access in that area moving forward for lake run trout and smallmouth. Fear is someone will buy it, and post it. Does anyone have any knowledge or insight?

"Just received confirmation after following a tip from a page member that Uncle John's Elk Creek Campground is permanently closed.
Allegedly, this all stems from a sewage issue that wasn't resolved. Anyone who has been there or fished there in the last 20 years has allegedly seen the sewage from Uncle John's dumped, and not very covertly, into the creek. I guess it's finally caught up with them."

I guess that could be "an issue between the owner and the township".... Glad I mostly fished upstream, when I fished for steelhead.

Stayed there once while walleye fishing, that was enough.

I don’t think I slept for much more than a few minutes due to all the passing trains.

i ran into Uncle John last fall while i was sitting & having lunch and a beer on the side road by the old 3CU hatchery tank .... he pulled up and said " you know who i am" and he gave me a sticker. we talked a while and he invited me to fish at his place ... " come on down and park at my trailer - no charge " ... i didnt get a chance to do it, but he was a nice friendly guy. i've never fished downstream from rt 5 since his camp was there ... hope it doesnt get posted --- but i never fished that area anyway.

one early morning in a late fall, i tuned into the webcams - the one with the pool in front of the big shale wall. kid was throwing spinners with his buddies. he gets out of the creek, drops his spinning rod down on to the rocks -- and lights a cigarette. Walks up to the camera --- takes a biig drag on his burner, blows the smoke out while staring right at the camera --- and GIVES ME THE DOUBLE UP AND DOWN BIRD!!

I almost fell off the couch i was laughing so hard.
