Interesting. I wouldn't expect a different position from TNFF, since many of their travels take them to private waters across the globe.

I never heard of it either, and even after watching the video, I do not know what the letters TNFF mean. Maybe I'm just too dense.

There are a lot of justifications one can make for the existence of pay to play water, but I feel like the ones presented are some of the least compelling I’ve heard.

One of the good things of being old, and saving old magazines… is you get to go back and see history in the making:

Donny had a 7 page ad in the 2005 Grays - of course Spruce …

I forgot that he also had Penns, Elk… etc

Donny even listed the membership - by State of residence!! 2005 was a very different time …

If you do the math — that Spring Ridge Club downstroke was $75,000 to $90,000 … but the good news … it was all refundable ….

You can draw your own conclusions … but these clubs have been around for a long time - and will continue to be around in the future.

My guess is that a lot of these folks are “ one & done “ …. Did it, paid a bundle - then back to the CC for the standing tee time and a club sandwich, those really crispy CC Ruffles chips & an Arnold Palmer.

But some — after getting a start - will want something more than continually catching 30 inch pellet heads every time out. Will want a better, more challenging experience - and will want to pursue and invest in the sport more seriously. And these are the new participants we need. We need more serious advocacy - people invested in protecting open public clean water
and clean air.

And yes - we need more Woman participating in our sport. Woman are fierce advocates —- will stand up for protecting clean water and access … and will spend MONEY to do it! If we don’t expand our advocacy—- these private / posted clubs will outnumber us and we’ll see more infringements on our public access.

I support those Canucks spending money stateside instead of me going north for 20 years for smallmouths.

This is why I’ve never idolized Lefty Kreh or Joe Humphreys. I can’t support people who patronize this type of thing.

That article is nauseating. If you ever had any doubt money makes the world go 'round, that's all the proof you need.

I wonder what would happen if the state-bred steelhead just stopped "swimming" upstream to the private waters? Perhaps private clubs are more involved in steelhead manufacturing than what I know. Perhaps they are better stewards of the system than what I give them credit for. You want to private your own little stretch of non-navigable water with pellet-fed pigs, have at it. I do take exception with privatization on the backs of others.

The whole experience just seems manufactured and fake. Plastic. Catching the same fish in the same stream...why not just book a private flight to the hatchery?

I remember watch a show where Nick Faldo fished Penns on Beaver's water. Every other cast was a 20 inch trout.

Does the beav still own water on Penns? I never heard that before. If you are looking for that kind of action just head to that place in WV that advertises on here

The Homewaters Club website claims they have a three mile stretch of Penns creek.
