The much maligned Pflueger Sal-Trout 1554 - “there are many like it but this one is mine!” This reel was given to me by my Dad in 1971 and still going strong. It is (and always will be) my first fly reel. Take a look and see the details - USA made, first “large arbor” production reel, feather light, brass fittings and hardware, “on or off” clicker drag, softer aluminum frame can take a lot of abuse - but can bend back! Mine is late 50’s early 60’s vintage and has been spooled with the pictured Cortland 333 Rocket Taper WF-6-F line for over 35 years - the whole unit is dependable, timeless, and NOT for sale. You can find them on EBay for around $20 but this one is priceless to me.

Gee, I was going to say the Orvis Clearwater I paid 50 bucks for ;) but I think I have one of those shown above and some other older reels in various states of decay in my basement. I'll post some pics and you can tell me if I have any gems or just junk.

Priceless reel for many reasons.

You know what “they” say about one man’s junk!

Here is what I found: apparently I have 2 of this one.

Some others...some got out of order front and back...you can turn it into a match game if you like.

my kid was actually using the eagle claw until last year.

Do you want to sell any of these? I’m interested in the Horrocks-Ibotsen and the Sal-Trout(s)

One man’s junk is another man’s gems 😬

Own a Martin 63 that I use on a fenwick ff60. Nothing like 1950's to 1960' s tackle.

I have a bunch of ancient one from the 50's on up. GG

We could use more photos of old reels. Here is a Martin 67SS, branded as an Orvis Green Mountain I. A reel from the early 1980s.

Since you asked, here is a Martin 67A that I‘ve had in the closet for a few years. I probably bought it at someplace like a K-Mart for my son to use once upon a time, but I’ve never used it myself. It’s still in what appears to be perfect operating order, but with a few dings here and there. I suppose a truck could run over it and not do much damage. The clicker sound on it is loud enough to wake the dead though.

Mine is a Hardy Marquis Fly Weight from the early 80's. It is my got to reel. I have fished it hard and often. Probably not worth much in the marketplace. but it has 40 years of memories. I got a small bonus from my senior partner. I as single so a friend and I drove to Atlantic City to play blackjack. I played all night long at a $10 table and was down to my last $30.00 or so. The deck caught fire for me and when I was done my initial $150 stake was almost $500.00 . Thank the saints that they closed the casino and threw us out. I called Barry Beck who put together a Hardy, a Sage 8'6" four weight GLS and a double taper line for under the bankroll that I had. I'm not sure, but I believe that I actually drove to Benton, Pa to pick it all up. I broke the GLS some 20 or so years later in Utah, but I still have the Hardy and still fish it regularly. That click drag can make you deaf if you are lucky enough to get a nice big trout. :)!

67A is a workhorse reel. Blue collar and unbreakable. Nice pic. I love loud clickers.
Marquis is a smooth clicker with a great sound. Need a photo.

I have one of those Martin's. Was my every day reel for a long time including my time in Idaho as you can tell by the wear.

Can you I'd those? I have some that look similar. Would like to know what, where, when if you or anyone else knows. Not interested in value. They're just decorations in the man cave.
